Mike Smith
- Mike Smith is a systems and network administrator, former cab driver, and avid pool player who worked with Randal Schwartz on the iWarp supercomputer project at Intel around 1989–1990 under manager Seth Bradley.
Background & Career
- A colorful, spirited personality with a background driving cabs before transitioning into computing and network engineering.
- Following the iWarp project, Mike worked across the Pacific Northwest tech and ISP scene at companies including Big Planet, Convergent Communications, GST, and Cybersight.
- Later relocated to Southern Oregon, then New Mexico (Magdalena and Socorro) to brew beer, make pizza, and live off-grid, before eventually settling in Arizona.
Pool & "You Call the Shot"
- A skilled pool player from his cab-driving days who taught Randal advanced billiard techniques.
- Together with Randal, they frequented Ringo's Bar & Grill in downtown Beaverton and invented a custom variation of billiards called "You Call the Shot".
