- MacMania 3 (November 7 – November 14, 2004) was the third Mac-themed Geek Cruise, sailing the Eastern Caribbean aboard the Holland America Line's M.S. Zuiderdam.
Technical Coordinator & Production Assistant Role
- I coordinated the technical curriculum and served as the production assistant behind the scenes alongside Neil Bauman.

- Featured presentations by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, tech columnist David Pogue, TWiT network founder Leo Laporte, and Macworld editor Jason Snell.
- Detailed classes on Mac OS X automation and scripting by Apple PM Sal Soghoian.
- The InGenius Bar Meeting: During one of the ship's unstructured "InGenius Bar" hours (devised by Neil Bauman), I met Leo Laporte. Although I knew who he was from TechTV, he had to ask who I was. When I mentioned I was the author of the Learning Perl Llama book (which he was reading back in Petaluma), he was shocked to realize I was the Randal Schwartz. This encounter began a long friendship and led to me hosting FLOSS Weekly for 13 years. See Meeting Leo Laporte at the InGenius Bar.
