    • In the mid-to-late 1990s, I taught a Perl class for Hotmail in the San Francisco Bay Area.
    • During the gig, the Hotmail team had to make a run to their data center, located in San Jose, and I tagged along.
    • The facility was one of the early "data warehouse" (data center) sites in Silicon Valley.
    • While at the site, I got the rare opportunity to actually touch the Hotmail master server itself.
