    • On September 25, 2013, I paid off my last remaining credit card balance, officially becoming entirely debt-free.
    • This milestone was the culmination of years of financial recovery following the banking and economic crisis of 2009.
    • During that period, a perfect storm of events had completely wiped out my cash reserves and left me with a six-figure debt load.
