  • Lee McLoughlin

  • Lee McLoughlin is a British systems programmer and archive maintainer at Imperial College London (where he maintained the historic src.doc.ic.ac.uk software archive).

  • Connection to chat2.pl and CPAN

    • Because Larry Wall bundled my chat2.pl library into the core Perl 4 distribution in November 1991, Lee built ftp.pl and the widely used mirror FTP synchronization package on top of chat2.pl.
    • Starting in 1995, Jarkko Hietaniemi, Andreas König, and the early Perl community used Lee's mirror package (mirror -> ftp.pl -> chat2.pl) as the foundational transport engine to synchronize and bootstrap the global CPAN mirror network. See The 35-Year Story of chat.pl and chat2.pl.
