My friend Sonia went in for LASIK eye surgery on 20 Feb 2002.
The surgery was performed at
Teplick Laser Surgery Center.
See my surgery pictures as well.

The annotations here are written by Sonia, with her first-person
perspective. As this is not normally the case for the pictures
in this archive, I've added this annoying additional note.

| The Man again. Dr. Teplick. He's smiling, so the operation must have
gone fine.
About this time I glance around and -- my god -- I can SEE.
Clearly. Distance. I'm overwhelmed, I'm astounded, I'm moved. I cry
a little, which is good, because keeping my eyes wet is important now. |

| He's checking it all out now to see how my eyes look. Yep, both of
them are still there. |

| My eyes are tired, so I'm keeping them shut a lot, but I can talk just
fine. I call Devin to tell him the operation is done and I'm great. |

| Next morning! I'm back at Teplick's for the post-op, and they have me
Take Off The Shades for the first time!
I am so happy with my new eyesight I could just bust.
(Marti has had perfect vision all her life. She is happy for me, but
she doensn't quite get what all the fuss is about. La dee da.) |

| Here I am with Randal, who took all these pictures (except this one.)
I owe him a great big and warm thanks for taking me through this, for
being there for me for what has been one of the most profound and
moving experiences of my life -- seeing clearly.
Thank you, Randal. |

| So, do I still have eyes? Yep. Check out the artwork on the wall
behind. Nope, I don't get it, either. |
