Ahh, Germany. The home of my father's father before he came to the states, although I had never been there. We docked in Warnemunde, which had formerly been East Germany's primary seaport before the reunification.

We took a water ferry down to Rostock, spent a few hours there, then took a trolley and a train back to the ship.

This snake is on one of the columns of the city hall. It's used as a shibboleth to identify whether you're from the town of Rostock or not. "What is on the column?" to which you had to answer "a snake!".
