The night before the cruise, I stayed at the wonderful Ask Me Inn, found through Orbitz. The place was booked up completely, but the owner gave me the Penthouse apartment at the normal daily rate. Sweet. I chose the place because it was a short walk from there to Beach Place on the Ft. Lauderdale beach, where a dozen different restaurants and night clubs usually keep me sufficiently distracted.
