For many people, the day at Hubbard Glacier is the entire reason to travel the Alaska inside passage. We started with a short class before arriving at the glacier, and then the cameras were a-snappin'.

The glacier is 8 miles wide and 500 feet high on the face. At one point, we saw a nice calving that resulted in about a minute of oooohs and aaaaahs and a 100-foot iceberg. The weather was great, and Captain Mercer got the ship closer than I had ever been to the face.
